   QUALITY AND MANAGEMENT STANDARDS FOR THE SOFTWARE INDUSTRY, march 21st to 23rd, 2007    

Quality and Management Standards for the Software Industry With the growing concern about Quality and Management Standards, and its essentiality especially in the Software Development, ELCIM hosted 25 participants from 13 software companies for the “Quality and Management Standards for the Software Industry” workshop.

The three days workshop, from March 21st to 23rd, 2007, handled the popular enquiries regarding what to choose, the importance of the certification and an introduction to them.

The need for Quality Standards ISO 9000 & 17799 in an IT company, higher IT certification with Capability Maturity Model Integration CMMI, Best practices through Project Management from Harvard, PMI and the so, and Scenarios of how to achieve appropriate certification were explained thoroughly. Then quality standards were discussed in details regarding how to implement and how to achieve certifications, followed by an explanation of CMMI and its elements. Finally the issue of Project Management was handled regarding project cycles, its different approaches and standards. An IT project was defined, and a case study was applied for deeper comprehension..
